Albert Pitt was my husband’s Grandfather and the father of Charles Pitt.
He was born on 10th February 1875 at 42 Collier Street, Clerkenwell to Charles and Mary Ann, one of 9 children.
The family are living at 6 Ducking Pond Mews, Mayfair at the time of the 1881 census.
Albert was baptised at the age of 9 at Park Chapel, St. Luke, Chelsea.
On the day of the 1891 census he is visiting 41b Pyreland Road, Highbury.
On 1st March 1897 he married Ellen Brooks at Paddington Emmanuel Church, Harrow Road.
The 1901 census shows the family living in Hormead Road, Paddington. Albert is a Hackney Carriage Driver.
The address on the Electoral Register for 1908 is 20 Bravington Road, Paddington and they have moved to 50 Portnall Road, Paddington by the time of the 1911 census. Albert is now listed as a Chauffeur.
Albert died on 15th October 1927 at 12 Exmoor Street, Kensington (St Marylebone Hospital) from Cardiac Failure, Myocardial Degeneration and Chronic Bronchitis.
