Richard Hartley Porter 1803-1881

Richard Hartley Porter was my 3 x gt grandfather and the father of Richard Porter.

The middle name ‘Hartley’ was his mother’s maiden name.

St Peter and St Paul, Dagenham

Richard was born in Barking, Essex in 1803 to Richard and Mary and baptised on 27th October at St Margaret's, Barking.

He married Rebecca Piercy on 22nd October1829 at St Peter and St Paul, Dagenham, Essex and they went on to have at least 8 children.

Richard was a Ship Keeper, which was a watchman or security guard for the ships in dock at Barking.

He died in 1881 and was buried at St Margaret's, Barking on 13th February.
